Bail bondsman and a former bounty hunter to pay a city woman $1,000 for improperly imprisoning her

Berks County Judge Timothy J. Rowley ordered a bail bondsman and a former bounty hunter to pay a city woman $1,000 for improperly imprisoning her, according to a court order available Thursday.

Beth Sadler, 29, had filed a $1.3 million lawsuit against two bounty hunters and a bail agency, accusing them of bursting into her mother’s home in the 600 block of Birch Street, handcuffing her and driving her to their office to question her about her ex-boyfriend on Sept. 4, 2007.

Rowley ordered Dennis White, operator of DW Bail Bonds, 841 Washington St., and Ramon Mercado Jr. to pay Sadler $500 each.
