The Ohio Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case filed by a local bail bonds company regarding bond procedures in Licking County Common Pleas Court.
An order filed Wednesday by Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor ordered oral arguments be scheduled “sua sponte,” or by judge’s order without a motion being filed by any parties involved.
The complaint was filed in March by Woody Fox, of Woody Fox Bail Bonds LLC, against Common Pleas Court Clerk Gary Walters and judges David Branstool and Thomas Marcelain.
An Act Concerning Bail Bonds:
The measure passed the Senate and House unanimously and changes a number of things relating to bail bonds including automatically terminating a bond and releasing a surety when an accused voluntarily returns between five business days and six months after a bond forfeiture order.
Part of the governor’s veto message: This would undermine the efficient functioning of Connecticut’s bail bond system and compromise the state’s ability to assure those facing criminal charges appear in court.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Police have been called to a reported shooting near Woodson park on the city’s southwest side.
Police were called to Bell Aire Motel just after noon Tuesday. At this time, FOX 25 cannot confirm if anyone was injured in the shooting.
Police say a father and daughter bail bonds team and an officer knocked on the door of the motel room. The suspect rushed out, knocking down the elder bondsman down. His daughter fired her gun at the suspect but missed.
